Intro to Yoga: 8-Week Series

Embark on an 8-week journey to explore and enhance your knowledge of yoga. This series is designed for both beginners and those looking to delve deeper into their practice of yoga.

Intro to Yoga?

There comes a time when practicing postures meets the needs of the physical body but not of the whole self.

Once you understand how your body responds to asana a natural curiosity arises to go deeper. The question about how yoga can support our mental, emotional, and spiritual lives develops.

The next deepening of any yoga practice starts with embracing it as a complete life system that has guideposts that beckon you forward to make small changes in your daily life. 

Join Monique from Burning Wheel Yoga School on an 8-week introduction course to yoga asana (postures). 

This series will dissect the poses learned in a typical power 8-limb yoga class. Throughout the program, you will acquire knowledge of the names, correct alignment, and modifications for each pose, as well as proper breathing techniques.

Each week, we will build on what you learned in the previous week. Gradually, you will acclimate to the heat, and at the end, you will feel confident to attend regular group classes!

Who is Intro to Yoga For?

Are you intrigued by the idea of becoming part of a diverse yoga community, but you haven't because you feel like you lack prior experience? This series has been tailored specifically for you!

This 8-week program has been carefully developed as a beginner's guide to yoga. By enrolling in this course, you can kick off the year 2024 by immersing yourself in the basics and adapting to the practice of hot yoga.

This course is designed for people of all ages, levels of fitness, and experience.

Program Schedule & Cost

  • 8-week course beginning January 4th, 2024
  • Every Thursday starting  January 4th - February 22nd, 5:45 - 7:00 PM
  • 8 sessions for $195

Meet Your Instructor: Monique Allen

Monique was introduced to yoga in the mid-1970s by her mother when she began practicing to navigate the challenges of single parenting. Knowing her children were suffering from familial trauma, she intuited that they, too, would benefit from simple meditation and movement practices. For Monique, this began a lifetime of dabbling in the practice of yoga.

In the fall of 2018, Monique came to Burning Wheel Yoga School bereft and exhausted after the death of both of her parents within five months of each other. Jordan’s teaching was immediately healing and inspiring. In the fall of 2019, Monique joined Jordan’s Yoga Teacher Training program. The first goal was healing, the second was immersion in a sacred spiritual study, and finally, the desire to teach was born.  

Teaching yoga is an extension of a lifetime of gardening for Monique. She believes cultivating the human spirit is the best adaptation of gardening she can offer the Burning Wheel community and aims to offer a grounding practice that inspires personal growth. 
 
Monique is the founder of The Garden Continuum and its signature Life-Scape Method outlined in her book STOP Landscaping, START Life-Scaping. As the Lifescape Coach, she guides small business owners toward the path of self-realization and liberation as entrepreneurs. Monique loves to have her hands in the soil, ride her Harley, and cook for her family.
