Class Descriptions and Pricing
8-Limb Yoga is a system of yoga based on the principles and practices outlined in the Yoga Sutras, the Bhagavad Gita, the Upanishads, and the Hatha Yoga Pradipika. The knowledge of the ancient texts is integrated with today's modern scientific understanding of the human body and mind, forming the path of 8-Limb Yoga as taught here at Burning Wheel Yoga School. It is a complete practice with the goal of achieving and maintaining mental and physical health, expansion of consciousness, and knowledge of Self. You will find that while each class consists of dynamic vinyasa flows, stationary postures, and blissful savasanas, each instructor brings their own experience and personality into play when leading a class. Some instructors focus on the physical postures alone while you might find yourself experiencing a brief lesson in mantras, mudras, or pranayama in another's class. It's important to find the instructor that resonates with you to achieve success in your yoga practice. Classes are labelled as HOT(95-105 degrees) or WARM (80-90 degrees). Our growing Instructors page can give you a brief overview of each teacher's background and teaching style, but feel free to email or call with any questions you might have.
Movement & Meditation
What is meditation? Perhaps you have a friend who raves of the benefits, or maybe you have seen Oprah or Ellen talk about it. Maybe you picture a serene person sitting cross legged with hands in a mudra on their legs, or maybe you have tried it…but the reality is anything from aforementioned ideals. You sit and close your eyes…is this it? Your thoughts are racing and your body won't be still. What am I supposed to feel? I can’t be doing this I have all these things to do.If this sounds familiar, then this course is for you. This class breaks down what can often feel daunting and overwhelming into easy to understand and experience class that is designed for the curious, the novice, and even the seasoned practitioner alike. Join us and explore your greatest and sometimes most confusing asset, your mind. The class will begin with a 30 minute meditation discussion and include a 10 minute active and guided sit, followed by a 60 minute asana practice.
Restorative Yoga is a practice that is all about slowing down and opening your body through passive stretching. In a Restorative Yoga class, you may hardly move at all, doing just a few postures in the course of an hour. It is a completely different experience than most contemporary yoga that focuses on extreme stretching, aerobic movement, and sweating. During the long supported holds of restorative yoga, your muscles are allowed to relax deeply. It's a unique experience because props, rather than your muscles, are used to support your body. Restorative classes are very mellow and calm, making them a good complement to more active practices and an excellent antidote to stress. The lights are dim, the music is soft and relaxing, and expectations are nil. You can wear long sleeves and socks if you tend to get cold, and there’s no need to worry about your physical ability or yoga experience. The instructor will guide and assist you to find the perfect way to let your body unwind. Challenge yourself to practice stillness and you will find a whole new understanding of your body and mind.
Kidding Around Yoga (KAY)
Kidding Around Yoga, brought to you by Meredith Daelhousen, specializes in sharing yoga and meditation with children ages 2-18 . We use our own music produced by our founder, Ms. Haris Lender, games, as well as other tools and activities to help children focus their minds and stretch their bodies, all while having loads of fun. Yoga and meditation has been considered for a long time as a wonderful means of stress management and currently mindfulness is a part of curriculum in many schools across Massachusetts. KAY uses a system based on the classical study of yoga and transforms it into an experience for children to both introduce them to yoga as well as inspire them to develop a practice and give them tools to take into adulthood.

Also known as the 'Psychic Sleep', Yoga Nidra is taught by both Angela and Jordan. It is a guided restorative and meditative practice that allows the students to both actively and unconsciously relax and destress the body and mind completely. This class is attended in the position of supported savasana (lying on your back bolstered by blankets/towels/blocks) and is a combination of deep physical relaxation and mental alertness. Students are guided through different mental exercises, visualizations, and spiritual meditations. Yoga Nidra brings the practitioner to a place of deeply relaxed consciousness, the place between the waking world and the dreaming world, where self healing and illumination may occur. Many students experience deep rest, feeling rejuvenated and refreshed while gaining clarity and an increase of psychic awareness. It has been scientifically proven that one hour of Yoga Nidra is equivalent to 2-4 hours of deep restful sleep. This class is suitable for all people, of all ages, body types and capability and can be attended by young people ages 8 and up.
